Left to right: Busse, DJ Swab and Thomas T.
Originally from Esbjerg, the group was formed in the early
ninetys by Thomas T, Busse and DJ Theis, as they developed over the years, they got more ambitious and decided to start getting
in shape for the former historic rap tradition in Denmark, DM I Dansk Rap (The national championship for rap groups).
They went into the preliminairy rounds in 1997, and made it
to the finals, but had to settle for a 5´th place. The next year they had enough material to release a self financed demo.
Two years went by with staying in shape, the next year they
would enter the national championships again, but things were different this time. This time the preliminairy rounds was held in their own city, so it was safe to say that they had the home field advantage,
not that this influenced the jugdes, but the crowd was feeling it.
This would be the year that they made it to the finals again,
but this time to prevail.
Bumsestilen was officially national champions in 1999, and
had their first real release the next year, on the live album from the contest, their contribution to the album was their
winning track “Viva Las Vegas”.
Ever since they have been notorious for their live performances,
and their flawless ability to get a rauss out of the lamest of crowds, wether the audience is Hip Hopppers, or just about
anybody.
Live shows has always been their biggest strength, they hold
the audience in a threshhold and the crowd always seem to respond to their very personal expressions on stage.
In 2000 the “Kongsholm Tour” went through the
country, the tour featured Bumsestilen with Jyder Mæ´ Attityder and Stilen Er Profilen, the tour was a success.
Thomas, Theis and Busse appeared on a compilation called “Den
Nye Skole” (The New School) with the track “Ka Man Åbn Øl Mæ´N?”, wich was released on FóReal Entertainment
in 2002.
After the release they signed a record deal with fóreal to
make a full length album, things seemed to be going their way. The year after, they get involved with Ayp Music, as Swab was
putting together his own compilation debut “Half & Half”.
They featured with “Bastard MCér”, and as they
were in the lab it was clear that they knew how to work together, and acheive great results.
After the release of the compilation, Busse and Thomas lost
contact with Theis, so they asked Swab if he would be willing take his place.
Swab was cool with it, besides that he had already produced
several of the beats, that they would be using on the album.
Now things started moving fast, the recordings were going
great, things seemed to be moving in ther right directon.
In the spring of 2004 the whole album was recorded, mixed
and ready for masters, the group was eager, but their manager calmed them down, assuring them that the album would soon be
released. But after a long time of posponement, the group and FóReal silently agreed to terminate their business relations.
This didn´t come as a surprise to anybody, and the project
was handed over to Ayp Music the same day as Bumsestilen and FóReal went their seperate ways, but the fact of the matter was
that no preparations had been made in terms of promotion or pulication.
Long story short, Bumsestilen has been here a long time, and
has never been in any rush in regards to make a record.
But now it´s finally time for Denmark to welcome their debut,
their sound has been improved, but their creative and uniqe sound and character is preserved.
“Naturligvs” will be out shortly after the release
of the Professor P debut, in the spring of 2005, so look out for the Ayp Music Logo in your record dealer.
